TERMS AND CONDITIONS – CARPIN RENT

1. About CarPin Rent

CarPin Rent is a car rental company based in Switzerland, operating in Portugal. We are partners with several car rental companies, whose vehicles are available for booking directly on our website. Additionally, we also collaborate with external platforms, such as Rentcars, to facilitate access to our services.

2. Requirements for Renting a Vehicle

To rent a vehicle, the driver must:

  • Be between 19 and 21 years old (depending on the vehicle group and partner);

  • Hold a valid driver’s license for at least 1 year;

  • Present an identification document (Citizen Card or Passport);

  • Have a credit card in their name or the present person’s name for the security deposit.

Important: The minimum age and requirements may vary depending on the vehicle group and partner.

3. How Payment Works

Payment is made in two steps:

  • First part: An initial prepayment upon finalizing the reservation;

  • Second part: The remaining balance is paid when the vehicle is collected from our Partner.

Prices, cancellation policies, and extras may vary depending on the selected vehicle group and partner.

4. Security Deposit

The security deposit will be blocked on your credit card at the time of vehicle collection. This amount will be unlocked after the vehicle is returned, provided there are no damages, fines, or extra charges.

Not all Partners block a security deposit.

5. Vehicle Collection and Return

  • The vehicle will be delivered in perfect condition for use;

  • Return the vehicle on the agreed date, time, and location;

  • Delays may result in additional charges;

  • The vehicle must be returned with the same fuel level it was provided with (unless another fuel service is contracted).

6. Use of the Vehicle

You must use the vehicle responsibly. It is prohibited to:

  • Use the vehicle for illegal purposes;

  • Allow another person to drive without permission;

  • Drive under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medication;

  • Participate in races or transport dangerous goods;

  • Drive outside Portugal without permission.

7. Insurance and Liability

All vehicles come with third-party liability insurance.
You are responsible for damages up to the insurance excess limit. Damages caused by improper use are not covered.

8. Fines and Violations

You are responsible for all fines and violations during the rental period.
We may charge an administrative fee to manage these occurrences.

9. Cancellations and No-Show

The cancellation policy will be outlined in the reservation confirmation.
If you do not show up to collect the car, you may lose the amount paid.

10. What’s Included in the Price

The rental price generally includes the following items:

  • Basic insurance, with the option to choose different types of insurance for each vehicle. When selecting insurance, the customer can check what is included in each coverage option;

  • Mileage (unlimited or limited, depending on the selected vehicle);

  • Roadside assistance, available depending on the type of insurance selected;

  • VAT and applicable taxes;

  • Optional extras, such as GPS, child seats, etc., if requested.

11. Data Protection

We handle your personal data in accordance with data protection laws, exclusively for managing the rental.

12. Limitation of Liability of CarPin Rent

CarPin acts solely as an intermediary and assumes no responsibility for any damages, accidents, fines, violations, or other issues arising during the vehicle rental period.
